My Top 5 Ways to Relax and Refocus.

Sometimes we have overwhelming days. Those days when you have so much to do that you don't know where to start.  Here are some tips on how I relax, regroup, and get focused.

  1. Aromatherapy Bath or Shower

When I have a busy day, the first thing I like to do is start with a nice aromatherapy infused shower. If you haven't tried aromatherapy body wash or lotions I really like Bath and Body Works' Aromatherapy line. My favorite first thing in the morning is

This is a wonderful Orange Ginger scent. Really anything with citrus will raise your spirits and promote a more energetic feeling. Just apply this in the shower with a poof, loofah, washcloth or whatever your choice is and deeply inhale. They have a full range of lotions, soaps, body mists, bath soaks, creams and more.

When It's time to wind down, I love Stress Relief Eucalyptus spearmint, which is also great when you are feeling under the weather. And for bedtime, or when I can't wind down, I love Sleep - Lavender Vanilla.

2. Aromatherapy in the Home

I am huge on aromatherapy, for me, it really does help. There's alot of different things you can do for aromatherapy like Candles, Scented Oils, or my favorite Wax Melts.

I have a wax warmer in every room in my house and each one has a purpose. In my bedroom, I always have a Lavender Vanilla or a Lavender Vanilla Mint blend. This helps promote relaxation and sleep.

In my bathroom, I like to keep it fresh with a citrus or cucumber melon scent. My office currently has a coffee sent, but often I do a bright citrus, like something with Lime, Lemon, Orange or even mint

And then throughout my house, I normally keep it pretty seasonal.

3. Drink Herbal/Green Teas

Another great thing to help with relaxation is tea. I have more tea than I know what to do with.

I have teas for everything from colds and sinus issues to fun and fruity. Chamomile teas have to be my favorite. I love having a cup before bed or when I need to take a step back and relax. Nowadays there's a tea for just about anything that ales you. There are so many brands out there that it can be a bit intimidating. I have a few brands that I really like Bigelow and Celestial Seasonings have to be my two favorites and you can pick them up at any grocery store.

For those who are on the look out for Organic teas, I really like Teavana and the republic of tea.

4. Keep a Journal/ write

This is something I have done ever since I was a kid. This was a way that I could write down all of my fears, successes, dreams, and goals. Made it easier for me to write down my stress than bottle it up and let it consume me. Even now, as I am almost 30, my mom still buys me a journal every year either for Christmas or my Birthday. I don't write in it as much as I would like to but, it does really help when you have so much on your mind.

Another great outlet I have is my poetry. I started writing poetry about 15 years ago and even now, it helps to deal with emotions. I have even been published a few times!

5. Music

Music is great outlet for not only relaxing but, also helping you get motivated. Music is a huge part of my life and there isn't a day that I don't have something playing especially when I am cleaning. I'm pretty sure my neighbors can hear when I am cleaning my house.
