Try It Tuesday: Weird products/trends Collab

There's so many different trends and products out there that just seem a little...well strange.. I decided to get with a few of my fellow bloggers to find out some of the weird trends or products they have tried and tested. I had a little Q&A with Gabrielle from The Fashion Fauxpas of Gabrielle

What is the strangest product/trend you have tried?

The product I tried out was recommended on a hair care forum (I think the Long Hair Care Forum?) to increase hair growth. The product I used was an anti-fungal cream used for athletes foot and called Daktarin (this was the UK equivalent of a yeast infection cream in the US called Monistat – the medical name for it was miconazole nitrate). Apparently, someone on the internet noticed her hair growth *down there* increased when using the cream, so decided to try it out on her scalp – because of course, that’s the first thing you’d think to do (LOL)!

What made you want to try it?

I really wanted to grow my hair and would have done anything (no joke, I took all the vitamins, tried all the oils and shampoos!) to get longer locks without having to get extensions. I was only 19/20 at the time, didn’t have the patience that I do now and didn’t listen to the red flags that this could cause migraines and ringing of the ears!

What were your final thoughts?

I gave up in the end. I think I was kidding myself that it was making my hair grow. The irony of it all is that once I stopped doing all of these crazy things and just let my hair do its thing it started to grow – at  25 years old it’s the longest its ever been!

What would be the next one that you would want to try?

I’m open to recommendations! I’m on another hair growth journey (I documented it on an old YouTube channel when I was trying out the above – oh the cringiness!) which probably won’t be as dramatic, for my wedding next year and would appreciate some product recommendations!

I also got with Kathryn over at The Little Alien to see what she had to say about her strange beauty trend: Silisponge - Check it out!!

So what about me? Well let's see:

What is the strangest product/trend you have tried?

Right now, I am really into K-beauty, Last week, I started the 10 step K-beauty skin care thing. It's a lot of steps and took me a while to get all the products that I needed for this. From cleansers to masks and serums, it's a lot of products. This is supposed to help with problem skin and help to get and to keep your skin looking amazing!

What made you want to try it?

Ever since I was in like 8th-9th grade, I had really bad acne. For 15+ years I have tried EVERYTHING on the market from prescriptions to drugstores and online, but nothing works for a long period of time. It got to the point where my skin was looking worse than it ever had! No one wants to deal with acne and aging skin at 30!My skin was picky, whereas most acne prone skin is oily, mine was normal to dry. I never had oily skin, but acne products are all filled with drying agent because acne and oily skin tend to go hand in hand. My skin was so over dried that it looked horrible, plus I still had breakouts! Enough was enough!

What were your final thoughts?

I am currently in week two and I am posting regular updates, however, currently, my skin feels AMAZING! Looks great, acne breakouts are almost null and my acne scars are clearing up! I think this is the best thing I could have done!

What would be the next one that you would want to try?

I am really wanting to try one of those derma rollers. They have tiny needles that help with skin repair and product absorption, but I am up for anything!
