What Was I Thinking!?: Products That Didn't Work

Happy Wednesday!!! So with the hectic last 2 weeks, I decided to do a little makeup destash and share with you some items that didn't work for me.

NOTE: This does not mean that they won't work for someone else with different skin types or that I dislike the brands. These are simply items that didn't work for me.

Nyx Whipped Cheek and Lip Souffle in Pink Cloud.

At first, I was excited to try this product. Let's face it, we all love a multitasker. This, however, didn't work for me. At first, it felt a little greasy but once it dried down it felt nice. Looked nice when I first applied it, but throughout the day, it just didn't hold up. It started to get a greasy sheen and got a little patchy. On top of that, I looked like a doll with this color.

Ciate Wonderwand Eyeliner

I recently received this in an Ipsy bag and was curious about it. It's pretty but a little too 'soft' for me. This would be a nice liner to use when doing a little more of a natural look or if you don't like a hard black eyeliner. For me, it didn't last very long. It started to smudge right after I applied it, and just got worse as the day went on. I like that there is a brush on the other side, I just wish it was a little darker.

3 Second Brow

If you saw my last Social Media Made Me, you already know what I have to say about this product. I can't believe how disappointed I was in this. I really had high hopes for this product. The stamps just didn't work, the product was inconsistent and patchy. For the full review, check out the post

Too Faced Hangover RX

I have tried this product time and time again with the same result. I wanted to love this so bad, but my skin just doesn't like it. Every time I use it, it makes me break out! If you have acne prone or sensitive skin, I would be careful trying this product. If your skin doesn't react, it will be a great product to use on days when your skin can use a little pick me up. For me, it just made my skin worse.

NYX Soft Focus Tinted Primer

This is another one that I tend to try and try again. I love a tinted primer but, this one, I don't know what it was doing! When I applied it, it looked GREAT! When I applied foundation or powder over it, it flaked off! Have you ever used a gel mask or a 'rub off' mask? Ya know when you rub it off and it 'rolls' like you have dead skin all over your face? Yeah, that's what this did! I just couldn't believe it! I was super bummed!

Studioshine Lip Lustre in Phoera

This lipgloss was more intriguing than anything. It's like duo chrome brown/blue/purple and looked really cool on the lips. The issue is... THE SMELL! I have NEVER had a lip product smell like paint thinner, spray paint, and epoxy all in one! The first time I tried this, I applied it over a brown lipstick and it really looked awesome and I thought well I can handle the smell as it went away once it dried. The next time I applied it, I didn't have anything under it and it stung my lips so bad I had to take it off.

NYX Highlight and Contour Palette

I have a few contour palettes but this is one that just didn't work well for me. I am pretty light skined and the lightest shade in this was too grey and the others almost seemed too orange. I am not sure if it oxidized on me during the day or what happened but the color just seemed off for my skin tone. I love the highlighters and the banana power in here so I continue to use it, but the contour colors don't work for me. On a good note, they work well as eye shadows.

Milani Conceal and Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation

It was like a fairytale.. Girl finds foundation, girl tries the foundation, girl falls in love with foundation....then...oxidation happened... I have NEVER looked so orange in my life!! It looked so perfect for the first few hours... Then right before an event, I decided to take a snap and that's when I saw it... It looked like I got into a fight with self-tanner and lost. The bad part was, there was nothing I could do about it for the rest of the night. Needless to say, I was so embarrassed and did everything I thought of to try to make it not look as bad, but nothing helped. I couldn't even wash it off because it's so long-wearing!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation

I have tried a few Tarte foundations and have had no luck so why I thought this one would be any different I don't know. It's a sheer coverage foundation but I have sheer cover foundations that cover more than this did. Not only that, but the coverage was so blotchy. After a few hours, it looked like I had attempted to remove my foundation and missed a lot of places.

Are there any products that didn't work for you? Have you had similar experices with any of these products?  Let me know in the comments!!
